Although I completely agree with the sentiment of buy what you need (not what you think you need), there are reasons cheaper products are well… cheap.

They won’t likely last as long for a start even if they seem as comparable in standard on purchase day. And replacement more often means more plastic and electronic waste.

My approach tends to favour to base model of the premium brand (e.g. Apple) or the top model of the 3rd party brand (like Anker).

Cheapest can be a risky business.
