I’d add here that it doesn’t just mean avoiding ‘things’, but accessing them through other means other than buying. What can you borrow from a friend for the weekend? What can you rent? What can you swap for a period of time?

Like the later example of rent ‘v’ buy for property, this idea of accessing things temporarily at time of need v long term ownership makes a huge difference to my minimalist approach.
