Surely in those few times where you can't take notes on the iPad, the universally available paper and pen will suffice?

After the call you can either digitise them by taking a photo of the paper or duplicating them back into digital notes app of choice if necessary.

I'd imagine this is easier than carrying the laptop as well for those rare occasions.
